Happy Birthday Intern - Hello Kitty Bathtub Cake

Our inter at TI Group, Sarah, turned 22 years of age on August 25th 2011. For this reason Mary and I decided to make her a Hello Kitty themed birthday cake. However we didn't just want to make her an ordinary cake! We wanted to take a Hello Kitty figure then add a bathtub, a fro and a computer complete with a screen capture of her actual computer screen. After which we added little details like rubber duckies, toilet papers, water, bubbles and tiles for the bathroom floor. Sarah loved this cake so much she decided to take it home and share it with her friends and family. We hope you loved the cake Sarah!

This has been a amazing summer with you here and we really appreciated your help! As Sarah's internship draws to a end, we will always remember her on Monday night "bachelor / bachelor pad" and Thursday nights "Jersey shore". Tuesday and Friday's won't be the same without you here to talk about the previous nights tv shows. ~ Kendra and Mary ~

Cecilia's TI Bridal Potluck Cake - Here comes the bride!

At TI Group it is a tradition, amongst the ladies, to have some sort of a celebration for those special girls about to tie the knot. September 11th, is the special day, our dear friend and co-workers Cecilia will be getting married. To celebrate Cecilia's nuptials we had a surprise lunch pot luck. At the end of the pot luck we presented her with this very special cake. This is a 6" cake covered with white fondant. A pink ribbon was added to the bottom of the cake. The greeting "congratulations Cecilia" was completely edible. Perhaps the most breath taking and beautiful part of this cake was the stunning flower / veil topper. Made by hand with edible petals this topper was one of our favorites so far. Mary's orginal design came together perfectly for this cake. You so creative Mary! Cecilia we hope you loved the cake!!!

CupOCake Celebrates 1 year - Kendra's Birthday Cake

That's right ladies and gentleman CupOCake has now officially been doing cakes for 1 year. Mary and I did our first cake together last year, August 20th, for my birthday. We still remember August 19th when we decided that after work, we wanted to go home and attempt our first fondant cake. Unprepared but eager we took on all the tasks of baking the cake, making the fondant, making the creatures and making the flowers all in one night. Little did we know, how much work this actually involved! The next day, tired from staying up until 2 am to finish the cake, we took our first ever cake to work. Everyone enjoyed the cake, at least they said they did. It was on August 20th 2010 that we decided to start a hobby business and name it CupOCake. Mary, being so creative, came up with our name and shortly after followed our logo. After which we decided that a blog would be a way to share our trials and tribulations with anyone else inspiring to make cakes. We hope that the before and after pictures above will help you see just how far CupOcake has come. We are always learning however our creativity is never ending and our cakes are constantly evolving. Thanks to all our loyal, new, past and present customers. Without you we would not be able to make so many great cakes. Sounds like a we just won a Oscar, eh? THANKS!!!!!! Mary and Kendra!

Coach Purse Cake - Lola Mary

This coach purse cake was made for Lola Mary's birthday. This avid coach enthusiast adores everything pink. Lola Mary was thrilled to receive this work of art. This was our second attempt at this cake. Our first attempt decided to fold due to the hot weather. Leading to us remaking the cake and learning our lesson to not leave cakes out in the hot weather. (even if they are covered in fondant) On a plus note cakes don't seem to be sweating due to humidity anymore. Happy Birthday Lola Mary!

Arlene's 30th Birthday Cakae

This cake was made for Arlene's 30th birthday. She wanted a cake to show everything she is proud of, places she has traveled too or things she likes thus far in her life. We decided to take all these things and put them on puzzle pieces. You will see such things as shopping bags, french fries, tequila, golf clubs, badminton birdies, daisies, peonies and the list goes on and on. Arlene thanks once again for your business. We hope you enjoyed this cake and your 30th birthday was a blast.

Jack David - Welcome New Baby - Baby Shower Cake

This cake was made for Pam, a fellow co-workers of Kendra's. She asked us to create this cake for her sister's baby shower. Her sister had recently had a baby boy and they named him Jack. Jack's parents are fans of liverpool and we added the bears and booties to keep the baby feel to the cake. There is a funny story about the greeting on this cake. Pam told us the greeting was to be "Jake David is good", however what she really mean was "Jack David", is good. Wops! O well we hope her sister loved the cake.

Belle Cake for Jasmine's 6th Birthday!

Firstly, we would like to say that yes we are still making cakes. We know, we know we have not posted on our blog in quiet some time. The reason being is because both Mary and I took vacation in July. Mary went to Cuba with her boy friend and I went to Saskatoon to visit a good friend. Now we are back, rested and relaxed. Ready and willing to take on and fill your next cake order.

Now lets talk business. See below a cake we made last month for beautiful Jasmine's sixth birthday. Yes this is a cake beautifully sculpted from Mary's imagination. This is our first Barbie inspired cake. We had to turn to our guru Joanne for tips and tricks to baking this barbie inspired cake. The skirt is completely edible. Every little detail was hand molded by Mary's tiny fingers. Jasmine we hope you LOVED this cake and happy belated birthday!!!! Much Love!!!
