Appleton Birthday Cake

This cake was made for Karen on her 21st birthday. The theme of this cake was to create a Appleton Bottle. We tried to make the bottle 3D, however we faced many challenges as the shape of the 3D cake was very difficult to cover in fondant. We are sure that with a little more practice and time we will be able to master the 3D bottle cake. With the fondant not covering the cake as we would like, we had to make a last minute decision and make the bottle rest on the cake. Although the inside of the bottle is chocolate cake with chocolate icing and not the Appleton rum itself, this cake captures our original idea of a very special cake for a very special 21st Birthday Girl.
